Music Producer in the making
At a young age I discovered the language of Music. It quickly became the easiest way for me to turn my thoughts, idea & moods into something universal that everyone could understand. I am happy to say that over the years I have been able to refine that ability and discover ways to apply it to the many different music/sound projects I find myself working on for myself or for clients.
Who Needs a Music Producer?
There are very important points to consider when choosing a producer for your next album, EP, single or other project. Music is very personal to artists because in many ways it represents the image and ideas that they want to convey to the world. Trusting that the artist and producer are 'on the same page' is of the utmost importance to the quality and integrity of the finished product. I recommend a decent amount of time being spent on pre-production so that there are little to no surprises when stepping into the studio to record for the first time.
One of the most common requests I get from recording clients (particularly singers and mc's) is for 'feedback' and 'criticism'. It seems that a lot of people call themselves music producers simply because they own recording software. I disagree with this idea entirely. These types of producers are typically accused of 'just hitting the record button' and not getting involved in the song(s).
One of the most powerful (and useful) tools that an experienced music producer has is his or her ears. Not just to listen to music, melody and tone but to most importantly listen to the artist. What are their needs, strong points, weak points, insecurities, etc? A person that is comfortable and knows what to expect will perform better and be less 'startled' when situations arise that are unexpected. A good music producer will have communicated these things to the artist beforehand.
Decide for Yourself
After hearing the audio samples on this page and reading my philosophy on communication in the studio and the art of recording you should have an idea whether I might be the right music producer/songwriter for your next project. Contact me today if you have any questions and I will be happy to discuss your project.
